almost a month in to living in country. whoa, it's amazing how fast the time has gone. i can say that it's getting better... the beginning was rough with adjusting to so many new things. let me see if i can cover the "adjustment phase"
1. not knowing what's going on most of the time
2. being physically ill for four days from new country bacteria... i found out the bonus is you get sick AGAIN when returning to the US in two years
3. trying to fit into a new family
4. adjusting to the weather being extremely hot and no fans
5. no more flushing tiolets/running water
6. limited electricity
7. learning Kyrgyz

In that order?
I probably would have put learning the language pretty high on that list!

Glad things are going better kid!
Miss you!

It was good to talk to you for the few seconds we had. We love you and miss you! These are little bumps in the road, I'm sure. Glad you're feeling better, Sweetie.

Love,
Mom & Dad

it's OK if the weather is hot and there are no fans or clean water or toilets or electricity or familiar objects/language or family, and you don't know what you're doing/you're sick and pooping your pants- it's ok, it's normal when challenging yourself- in fact, it reminds me of trying a board for the first time ever today. I tell you there is definitely an "adjustment phase" between being a sap floating in water holding onto a string attached to 250 horses and being a person who is "wakeboarding." Probably anyone could hold on and get up, but not everyone jumps in the water. You already did the hard part I think- chin up! the boat just took off!
Miss you lots

Katie!!

I can't believe it's already been a month either. I think about you daily and both you and Stan have been making guest appearances in my dreams. I wake up happy.

Love,
Becs

Hej Katie,
Sounds like the adjustment period's been a little rough, but still part of the whole process. I hope you've found solace in the fact that you've taken a challenge and you're living up to it...and that's AMAZING!!!
